GRANDPA

GRANDPA

Growing up you were always there

Each and every day showing me that you cared.

Spoiling me every chance that you had.

Letting me know that is okay to be sad.

After school, you checked on us day after day,Listening to every word we had to say.

Each moment we spent together

Will be special to me forever..

..My best memories are those at the time of year

When we decorated for Christmas with care.

The family would gather to feast

Which now happens the least.

Christmas magic soared through the air

While you taught me how to share.

Thirteenyears I kept you in my sight.

Now all I can do is hold the memories tight.

The day your soul drifted high

My heart knew, and all I could do was cry.

..A part of my heart left with you.

The part that told me what to do.

Once at college, I became confused and lost.

I went to the church where God I sought.

God told me something I did not know.

I have your hand on my shoulder telling me where to go.

I once thought the part of me that went with you

Was lost forever and would not be put to good use.

I now realize that I never lost part of my soul.

I simply shared it with you to keep us whole.

You watched over me while you were here

And I know that you will watch over me from up there.

Grandpa, to me you meant the world.

Now with you I can live in the world.

A sign of Christmas and peace is the dove.

You taught me that to have peace one must have love.

Therefore with love one can have peace.

Together, we will indulge in life - God's feast.

My love for you, Grandpa, will soon project

Into the love you will help me use to protect.

this poem really touched my heart in a way that people cant. my favorite picture, above, is a picture of my grandparents. Both have passed away. My grandma was in the year 2004 and my grandpa, almost a year. Although my grandpa's passing was a year ago, his death still mournes in my heart. He's my inspiration to what i want to become in the future. My grandpa and i were extremely close. The memory of him that i'll always keep is when i was leaving his room to head back home with my parents, he shed tears and waved and told me how proud he was of having me as his grandchild. Til this day reminiscing about him brings many many tears. Reading this poem almost brought tears to my eyes but i choose not to shed them because im in the library. But the impact my grandpa has on me is one no person can replace. I know he's in a better place but i cant help to think how he's doing. I love you soo much grandpa. Rest.in.Paradise.

Gowns Gone

Rio from "Thru Chocolate Eyes" wrote an interesting poem a couple of days ago comparing todays dresses to dresses from the 1900's. In her poem she writes:
"Dresses love women.
Today such gowns aren’t found;
no silks and satins flow,
no rustling, bustling sound.

The corsets were tight,
yet they gave great stature.
Strengthening lungs each day.
Now poise doesn’t matter.

With elegance shunned,
only survived by heels,
We try to make them chaste;
see how girliness feels.

All women have left
is to grow long tresses.
Since we are not allowed
to don princess dresses."

This poem really got me hooked on how much has changed during the many years of different styled dresses. Rio's poem does state truthfulness. the dresses in the 1900's are dresses we today would think of too much to wear. Actually..we wouldn't wear them at all! They are designed as princess dresses we think of today. In the 1900's dresses we're decent and virginal to feel and look accepted but today in 2008 the dresses are sexy and backs or legs are exposed. Women do wear high heels and high heels are what makes the dress. In the 1900's dresses would cover the foot which only left the dress itself to make the impression.

I think we'll be seeing alot of changes with the style of dresses in the future. The dress design in the 1900's are still used in todays stores but just an upgrade to match this years style.

HAVE YOU EVER FELT UNATTRACTIVE??

IF SO THEN THIS POEM IS JUST FOR YOU!!

Because You're Beautiful

Because you’re Beautiful
This poem’s addressed To you
Because you’re beautiful
No matter what You do
Because you’re beautiful
The sun rises Every day
Because you’re beautiful
The mist shrouds a Dreamy day
Because you’re beautiful
A blossom blooms and holds Its scent
Because you’re beautiful
Songs sung in your heart Are meant
Because you’re beautiful
Reflections shine And glint
Because you’re beautiful
Poems are written Heaven sent
Because you are beautiful
This is all that this Poem’s said
Just in case you may have Any doubt
This poem's heaven sent To tell you
You are beautiful And that is what this poem Is about.

-David Taylor

this beautifully written poem honestly made me feel more beautiful than i ever have felt. David Taylor didnt have to use strong words to help describe how beautiful everyone is. this poem can brighten up anyones day of feeling unattractive..upset..or sad. this poem doesn't have to target a certain audience. it instead goes out to everyone and you dont have to feel depressed to love it! this poem is a great motivation!

A Charm Invests a Face

A charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld.
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.
But peers beyond her mesh,And wishes, and denies,Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.
-Emily Dickinson

Who Is She?

Her eyes are like diamonds that are shiny and bright
Her hair is so soft and black as the night
Her legs are long and her body is slenderWhen you hold her close she is warm and tender
Hiding amongst the shadows so tall
Looking much closer she's not there at all
Always in trouble with her curious wayShe stays out all night and sleeps in all day
Creeps into your room and sits up on your bed
Gives gentle kisses on your nose and your head
Always expects you to open the doorThere isn't a sound as she walks on the floor
She will not come over when you call
Walks straight past as if you're not there at all
If you want to work she wants to play
Doesn't care if you forget her birthday
Is she your wife or is she your lover
Is she a friend or is she your mother
She is none of those things I can tell you that
This beautiful creature is only the cat

Welcome!

Spoken Words..words in poems that I LOVE to read. Writing or reading a poem is a way of dealing with my emotions. When my emotions get the best of me, the way I like to deal with them is by writing a poem. Some poems are boring to where i wished who ever the poet is should've got an a brain transplant after reading and seeing how terrible the poem is. Poetry should be able to express emotion, humor, or be able to make a strong statement. A poem shouldn't be called a poem if it doesn't express any of these, instead it should be called "keep it to yourself", as in don't share with others or Me. This blog will help you understand more of what I'm stating about these good and ridiculous poems. So, i hope you enjoy reading my blog and feel free to bring up any poems you've read about that are interesting and fun to read or poems that poets should've kept to themselves instead of publishing it for everyone to get bored of. ENJOY!
